A few years ago, at least, it seemed that whenever a child had a behaviour problem, they were diagnosed with ADHD, often with little evidence. I agree, it is reassuring that drug treatment of ADHD doesnt seem to lead to an increased risk of substance abuse. I agree with your skepticism about stimulant medications providing a protective effect again
